SAN MATEO, California — October 23, 2026. This original California58 Local report is based on an identified public agency record. Proposals, meeting notices, campaign material and estimated outcomes are carefully distinguished from decisions and certified results.

Who is running in council districts?

San Mateo’s City Clerk identifies two candidates in District 1, Taso Zografos and Lisa Diaz Nash; two in District 3, Seema Patel and Rob Newsom Jr.; and three in District 5, Dave Johnson, Adam Loraine and Dana Yates Sahae. Only voters in the applicable district select a representative from that contest. Citywide measures are decided by eligible voters across the city.

What are the measures?

Measure H concerns a one-quarter-cent transactions and use sales tax. Measure F concerns charter amendments. Voters should consult the exact ballot text, impartial analysis and fiscal disclosures before deciding what the proposed tax would do or which charter provisions would change. A simple headline cannot replace the legally operative language.

When are votes counted?

Election Day is November 3, 2026. Counting and certification are administered through San Mateo County election officials. This article reports candidate and ballot information known ahead of the election, not any result. It is possible for a contest to be close and require further canvassing after election night.

Where can residents verify?

The city links its district boundaries and voter information, while the county provides address-specific ballot and vote center tools. California58 does not endorse candidates or positions on either measure.
