SAN MATEO — October 26, 2026. Students in grades 8 through 12 have a Halloween-themed opportunity to meet other teenagers at the San Mateo Main Library on Thursday, October 29, from 5 to 7 p.m.

What is planned

The library’s Teen Halloween Hangout includes pumpkin carving, seasonal snacks and a screening of The Nightmare Before Christmas. The city’s announcement describes the event as informal, with participants allowed to leave once they have finished carving their pumpkins.

The event listing expressly welcomes neurodivergent and neurotypical participants and teenagers of different abilities. The grade restriction is important: this is a teen program, not a general children’s costume party or an adult film night.

Confirm supplies and access

The city lists the program in the library’s Oak Room. People with questions about available supplies, accessibility or enrollment should consult the official library event calendar or contact the library before making a special trip. The city calendar confirms the date and activities but does not independently state a guaranteed pumpkin for every walk-in participant.

Other library activities are scheduled nearby in time, including a cooking class for adults on October 28. Those are separate programs with separate enrollment requirements.
