SAN MATEO, Calif. — October 27, 2026. San Mateo has reopened three self-service sandbag stations for the wet-weather season: the Corporation Yard at 1949 Pacific Boulevard, the Beresford Park parking lot at 2720 Alameda de las Pulgas, and the Anchor Road/Bay Trail parking lot at Anchor Road and 3rd Avenue/J. Hart Clinton Drive.
Details for residents and property owners
The city says these stations operate 24 hours a day from October 1 through April 30 and are available to San Mateo residents and property owners. Each vehicle may collect up to 10 sandbags. Visitors should bring their own shovel and gloves and be prepared to show proof of residency or property ownership. Supplies are available while they last.
The city’s storm-readiness guidance highlights anticipated King Tide windows November 24–26, December 22–25 and January 20–23, 2027. These dates identify periods of unusually high astronomical tides; they are not a guarantee that every location will flood.
Before you go
A free sandbag station does not guarantee supplies will remain in stock during a major storm or that sandbags can prevent all flooding. People unable to fill bags because of a physical limitation may call the Corporation Yard at 650-522-7297 to ask about weekday pickup of pre-filled bags.
